Creating a Landscape Feature Out of Your Pond

When I first bought my home, I was unsure about the man-made pond in the backyard. The water was green and there was no wildlife to be seen. I decided to work with the water feature instead of spending money on fill materials to get rid of the pond. I added a water fountain to the space first that featured a submersible pump and I later added fish. After installing a filtration system and an aeration device, my pond became the central landscaping feature on my property. I made a lot of mistakes as I completed the installations. I had to learn about the biological filtration and I had to figure out how to control algae with shade plants. I want you to have an easier time than I did creating a water feature, so read my blog to find out what you need to do.

Unique Gift Baskets You Can Make On Your Own

If you have someone in mind that you would love to give a nice gift basket to, but you do not want to break the bank, you can consider making one on your own. Should you find that you are a little stumped on ideas, you might want to check out some of the following ideas to help get you started.

Bath And Spa Baskets

Find yourself a nice basket from a dollar or department store that will be sturdy enough to hold heavier items. Depending on who you are giving bath and spa gift baskets to, you can find a variety of bath and self pampering products that you will be able to put in them. Pick a selection of deep conditioning products, lotions, body scrubs, loofahs, back scrubbers, foot cream, and bath beads. You can then pick up a few gift certificates for a local spa or for salon products that you can throw in the basket as well.

Gourmet Kitchen Baskets

Fill a nice basket or even a shiny metal bucket with a variety of gourmet kitchen items. Think of all of the gourmet sauces, spices, and specialty tools used in the kitchen such as meat tenderizers. Another great idea to make this type of gift basket a little more personalized is to include a variety of recipes. For example, you can include recipe cards that you bought or printed from your computer. If you have some family recipes that you would like to pass down to him or her, you can write those out of fancy little card and stick those in the basket as well.

Movie Night Baskets

You can use a nice wicker basket or a large plastic popcorn bucket for this one. Fill your basket or bucket up with various flavors of microwavable bags of popcorn. You can also try to find a few movies that might interest the person you are giving this gift to. If you can, try to make it a little more interesting by finding a 3-D movie and make sure to include some 3-D glasses. Even though this is a basket filled with movie items for home, you can always throw in a few movie passes or gift certificates to your local theater.

With these unique gift baskets in mind, you should have no problem creating some very nice gifts for just about anyone in your life. All you have to do know is pick a theme and go with it.
