Creating a Landscape Feature Out of Your Pond

When I first bought my home, I was unsure about the man-made pond in the backyard. The water was green and there was no wildlife to be seen. I decided to work with the water feature instead of spending money on fill materials to get rid of the pond. I added a water fountain to the space first that featured a submersible pump and I later added fish. After installing a filtration system and an aeration device, my pond became the central landscaping feature on my property. I made a lot of mistakes as I completed the installations. I had to learn about the biological filtration and I had to figure out how to control algae with shade plants. I want you to have an easier time than I did creating a water feature, so read my blog to find out what you need to do.

Counting Dust Mites, Not Sheep: How To Reduce Your Dust Mite Allergies So You Can Finally Catch Some Sleep

When you have allergies, where you sleep can impose on your symptoms. Dust mites are everywhere, no matter how healthy or clean you are, and if you are sensitive to them it can make sleeping at night very uncomfortable. Dander you release onto your pillow, dust mites, and even dirt and debris you bring to bed with you can make your allergies or asthma issues even worse. Your bedding can make a big difference in your breathing comfort and help keep your allergies at bay. Learn about dust mite allergies and the type of bedding you can use to make them less severe.

Dust mite allergy symptoms

If you have a dust mite allergy, you may dismiss it as a common cold at first. The most common signs of a dust mite allergy include:

  • itchy or watery eyes
  • rashes on arms or legs
  • runny nose
  • sneezing
  • coughing
  • increased asthma problems

If you notice any of these symptoms only at night, then your bedding may be to blame. You can reduce dust mite allergens by vacuuming your mattress daily, killing the mites with a special linen spray, and washing your linens weekly in hot water to keep these tiny critters at bay. One of the best ways to reduce your allergy symptoms is to use allergy bedding whenever you sleep.

Full coverage for your mattress and pillows

Dust mites love a soft place to call home, so you will often find them in stuffed animals, carpeting, and their favorite place- your bedding. Allergy bedding comprised of vinyl or plastic supplies you with the coverage you need to make your mattress and pillows less desirable for a hungry dust mite. These covers have zippers on them to fully enclose your mattress and other bedding so dust mites cannot get in. For added protection, you will want to place tape over the zipper closures.

If you are looking for comfort, then choose allergy bedding that has a layer of nylon on it. A bedding expert, like the ones at PM Sleep Center, can help you choose the best allergy bedding for your own needs, based on the severity of your symptoms and the type of bedding you desire for a successful night's rest.

Dust mites are ever-present in your home, but you can reduce your allergy symptoms by using the right bedding in your room and making your environment less desirable for them to live. A bedding expert can help you choose the right dust might covers so you can finally get the sleep at night you deserve.
