Creating a Landscape Feature Out of Your Pond

When I first bought my home, I was unsure about the man-made pond in the backyard. The water was green and there was no wildlife to be seen. I decided to work with the water feature instead of spending money on fill materials to get rid of the pond. I added a water fountain to the space first that featured a submersible pump and I later added fish. After installing a filtration system and an aeration device, my pond became the central landscaping feature on my property. I made a lot of mistakes as I completed the installations. I had to learn about the biological filtration and I had to figure out how to control algae with shade plants. I want you to have an easier time than I did creating a water feature, so read my blog to find out what you need to do.

Keep Your Fruit Trees In Good Shape With The Right Trimming

If you are lucky enough to have fruit-bearing trees on your property, it is important that you work hard to keep the trees in the best shape possible so that you can enjoy a healthy harvest each season. From juicy cherries to crisp apples, you will be able to enjoy fresh fruit from your trees as long as you keep up with regular trimming and care.

Avoid Trimming During the Harvesting Period

Once the harvesting period for your trees has begun, it is best to avoid any kind of trimming. The reason for this is due to the fact that the limbs need to have enough strength to properly hold up the fruit, along with the chance that you may damage some fruit that has just begun growing.

Instead, stick to any tree trimming well before or after the harvesting period so that the tree will remain healthy while producing any fruit.

Remove Any Heavy Limbs to Encourage Growth

When you begin examining your trees for any trimming that needs to be done, it is important to pay close attention to any of the heavier limbs. These limbs could weigh down the trees significantly, make them harder to manage, and even result in the tree not being able to distribute moisture and nutrients as efficiently.

By removing the larger limbs and giving the trees some shape by trimming, your trees can be more productive and will not be exerting energy towards limbs that will not support fruit.

Look for Any Signs of Disease

When doing any kind of tree trimming, one of the most important things to address is whether there is any signs of disease. Any kind of disease to your tree can mean trouble when it comes to fruit-bearing trees since it could mean that the fruit will not be safe to eat.

Bring in Professionals for More Advanced Help

Depending on the size of the trees or the number of trees that you have on your property, it could be very helpful to have professional tree trimmers like Trees Unlimited visit your property. With their assistance, all your trees can be carefully tended to and you can avoid any major issues due to diseases or heavy limbs.

Taking good care of any fruit trees on your property is important if you want your property to look great and have healthy fruit to enjoy during the harvesting period. With the above tips in mind and by reaching out to professional tree trimmers, you will be able to keep the trees in good condition.
